Beschreibung:
  • Since 2021 the Cluster of Excellence "Understanding Written Artefacts" (Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures, University of Hamburg) has established the Palm-Leaf Manuscript Profiling Initiative (PLMPI) with the aim to develop an innovative, comprehensive and integrated approach to the study of palm-leaf manuscripts. Within PLMPI approaches from the humanities, natural sciences and information sciences are put to work in synergy to better appreciate the historical and cultural value of these artefacts through the study of their palaeographical, codicological and material features.

PLMPI consists of a number of sub-initiatives that are carried out by researchers affiliated to both UWA/CSMC and partner institutions, such as the Institut Français de Pondichéry (IFP) and the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS, Bangalore). The current entry in the RDR/FDR will serve as a hub for all activities conducted within or in collaboration with PLMPI and whose results (publications, datasets, images, etc.) are to be uploaded in this repository.
