This article, which was placed online in March 2010 and is documented here, was a direct reaction to Boris von Haken's article Spalier am Mdrdergraben in DIE ZEIT, which contained the claim that Hans Heinrich Eggebrecht's active participation in the mass shooting of at least 14 700 Jews in December 1941 in Crimea was a proven fact. This claim is examined using the available sources, and transpires as untenable.
