Location as part of the node's identity can make an essential contribution to the prevention of Sybil- and man-in-the-middle-attacks to verify the authenticity of nodes. This requires point-to-point communication between several end-devices which is not possible in LoRaWAN due to the stars-of-stars topology. This research paper provides an approach to overcome this problem by introducing an additional LoRa-mesh phase for LoRaWAN. This makes it possible to confirm the position of a LoRa end-device by RSSI-based localization.
