NMR spectroscopy (solution and solid state) of group 3d metals is described, including some applications in biology and material sciences. Most nuclei are difficult to observe because they have large nuclear quadrupole moments and/or low receptivities. The ranges of typical parameters (chemical shift and shift anisotropy, coupling constants, quadrupolar interactions) are surveyed, and factors influencing these parameters are discussed.
