To date only three species of freshwater Nematomorpha (Gordiida) are known from Switzerland. We report here the finding of two further species, the common species Gordionus violaceus (BAIRD, 1853) and a new species, G. bageli sp. n., in Switzerland. A diagnostic character for this species is the ring-shaped form of the adhesive warts, structures that are found on the ventral side of males, anterior to the cloacal opening.
