Die Hausarbeit bietet einen Überblick, welche Automatisierungs- und Robotertechnologien Stand 2021 in Bibliotheken verfolgt werden. Dabei finden vor allem Roboter unterschiedliche Einsatzmöglichkeiten, als Edukator, im Bereich der Leseförderung oder als Dienstleister. Dies eröffnet zum einen Chancen, z.B. für eine Reduzierung des Arbeitsaufwandes für Angestellte in Bibliotheken, zum anderen aber auch Risiken, wie z.B. dem damit befürchteten Stellenabbau. Die Hausarbeit kommt zu dem Schluss, dass zwar noch kein großer praktischer Nutzen in dieser Technologie für Bibliotheken besteht, aber andere Vorteile, wie etwa für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit von Bibliotheken in der medialen Aufmerksamkeit, nicht zu unterschätzen sind.
This paper provides an overview of which automation and robot technologies will be pursued in libraries in 2021. Robots in particular are being used in a variety of ways, as educators, in the area of reading promotion, or as service providers. On the one hand, this opens up opportunities, e.g. for reducing the workload for library employees, but on the other hand, it also poses risks, such as the feared loss of jobs. The paper comes to the conclusion that, although there is not yet any great practical benefit in this technology for libraries, other advantages, such as for the public relations work of libraries in gaining attention from the media, should not be underestimated.
