  • This is a follow-up to the study registered under https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/CRW9S. The first study investigated how narrative, interactive and dynamic elements in a news story on Instagram affect knowledge about and attitudes toward the news issue. The effects of these features were investigated in comparison to a baseline Instagram story. The results revealed that all stories, also the baseline version, were perceived equally entertaining. Since many of the hypotheses are based on the assumption that the investigated features elicit entertainment, we decided to include a different control condition: newspaper articles. In this second study we thus investigate how standard, narrative, interactive, and dynamic versions of an Instagram story affect knowledge and attitudes compared to a newspaper article with the same content.
