Beschreibung:
  • Job stress in hospitals negatively affects physicians' health and the quality of patient care. In order to improve working conditions in hospitals, an instrument for stress-related job analysis for hospital physicians was developed. A self-report survey questionnaire surveys stressors and resources of this target group. The questionnaire was validated among a sample of 571 hospital physicians. Confirmatory factor analyses reveal satisfactory to good fit indices. The internal consistencies of the scales are acceptable to very good and the results for interrater agreement are satisfactory. Scale intercorrelations demonstrate good construct validity. Zero order correlations and multiple regression analyses with outcome variables concerning hospital physicians' well-being confirmed the scales' relevance in the stress process. Hence, the questionnaire may be used as a valid and reliable instrument for measuring work-related stressors and resources among hospital physicians. A sound job analysis is a first step for improving their working conditions.
