The front cover artwork for Issue?7/2017 is provided by M. Dreifke, F.-J. Brieler and M. Fröba, University of Hamburg. The image shows a single spherical cell of a mesoporous cellular siliceous foam with an immobilized alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). The ADH is able to catalyze the oxidation of 2-propanol to acetone with concomitant reduction of NADP+ to NADPH. However, in the presence of a sufficient concentration of acetone, the back reaction accompanied by the oxidation of NADPH to NADP+ can be introduced too.
