  • While the genuine critical music education of the 1960ies and 1970ies has more or less vanished, the article asks for possibilities of reformulating basic insights of Critical Theory for present music education. The result is much more sceptical in terms of practical application than former approaches used to be. Instead, the article suggests more critical analyses of specific pathologies and paradoxes of music education today, based on the experience of social negativity.
