This article asks, if and how a phenomenon like "musical Bildung" can in some way be evaluated. The author suggests to concentrate on narrations of all kinds, in which description and interpretation of previous music-related incidents are entwined in a specific way. As an example, he uses the autobiographical narration "Wie wir begehren" by Carolin Emcke. All in all, this is plea for more narrative inquiry (and evaluation) in Music Education.
