  • Women who aim for executive positions experience different role conflicts, since they do not meet the stereotypical expectations they have of themselves and others about them. In order to acquire higher positions in these areas of tension they need specific competences which enable them to recognize and use their own potentials of power. This assumption is the starting point of the research project "Micro-Politics and advancement competence of women". The intention of this project was to clarify how micro-political competence can be increased and whether the advancement of women can thereby be affected positively. For this purpose 30 female junior executive managers were advised in a micro-politically orientated individual and group coaching. This coaching intervention was evaluated by applying various qualitative and quantitative methods. On the basis of selected empirical results the current article reflects on the criteria that influence the female junior executive managers' micro-political willingness to act and proposes how a micro-political coaching could be designed.
