Beschreibung:
  • The European Workshop on Aircraft Design Education (EWADE) is a forum for academic staff active in aircraft design education at European universities. Objectives are formulated as follows: 1.) To allow European lecturers concerned with aircraft design to continue their active collaboration. 2.) To discuss aircraft design problems as regards research and education. 3.) To enhance close cooperation with the aerospace industry for the two aspects mentioned above. – In order to allow local organizers the greatest possible freedom and to keep the initiative open as possible to those who are interested to join at any time, it was decided not to establish a formal organization. The first European Workshop on Aircraft Design Education was held in Madrid in 1994 and was hosted by the University of Madrid (ETSIA). Workshops and meetings followed: 1996 Berlin, 1998 Bristol, 2000 Turin, 2002 Linköping, 2004 Brno, 2005 Toulouse, 2006 Hamburg, 2007 Samara, 2009 Sevilla, 2011 Naples, 2013 Linköping, 2015 Delft, 2017 Bucharest, 2018 Brno, 2020 Rzeszów/Online, 2022 Rzeszów/Hybrid. EWADE keeps in close contact with a similar east European workshop Research and Education in Aircraft Design (READ). Russian colleagues carried EWADE's spirit to Asia and organized four Asian Workshops on Aircraft Design Education (AWADE) in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2022 at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) in China. Since 1994 EWADE is known as an affectionate community of people with similar interests. Everyone is welcome at the workshop to participate and to contribute with a presentation or poster. None of the early workshops passed without expressing regret about the absence of a dedicated aircraft design journal. This situation has changed. Since 2017 the Special Issue "Aircraft Design" in the journal "Aerospace" at MDPI offers a home for those active in aircraft design. The Special Issue is edited by Prof. Dr. Dieter Scholz, who started EWADE's webpage in 2000 and acts as a coordinator for EWADE.
