Beschreibung:
  • Sequestration of organic matter in agricultural soils: Agricultural soils are the most important basis for human nutrition, but also as a basis for numerous vegetable raw materials. The soil, the thin skin of the earth, the contact region between rocks and atmosphere is an important basis for ecosystems with their producers, consumers and decomposers. A small part of the organic material is stored as soil organic matter; the soil organic carbon (SOC) in the soil organic matter is therefore an important component in the earth's carbon cycle and therefore also important for the climate. Agricultural management practices that promote the formation of soil organic matter are therefore also important measures for mitigating climate change. However, maintaining and increasing the SOC stocks in soil can only be achieved through appropriate measures, and it depends on many other factors.
