  • This study examines the gender composition of 74 selection committees for administrative staff, carried out in 2020 across different units at Universität Hamburg. Over a period of five months, the gender distribution in applications, invitations for recruitment interviews, and successful recruitments was analysed. The study is linked to the broader context of equal-opportunity issues in personnel selection at universities. Drawing on the results, the article closes by proposing recommended actions for actors involved in personnel selection at Universität Hamburg and other higher education institutions.
