The exceptional climatic conditions of the Egyptian desert and the Nile valley have resulted in the preservation and possible recovery of a huge quantity of documents and literary texts. Even if we limit ourselves to dealing with the Coptic manuscript materials, the sheer quantity of this material is still overwhelming.
