The term work-life balance is an increasingly popular, yet poorly chosen label for different subject areas which concern the quality of the various different work and life areas and their relationship to one another. Concerning this field of interest, for some parts scientific tradition prevails, while for others there is the emergence of new problem constellations and perspectives. Increasingly needed are approaches that deal with questions about the relationship between occupation and general spheres which integrate societal as well as operational causes of imbalance and which take into account precarious labour conditions.
