Beschreibung:
After almost two years of travelling and studying around Europe the students of the Master's program CoPeCo (Contemporary Performance and Composition) are finally in Hamburg and show their works in two different concerts in July. CoPeCo is a unique international Master's program that unites composition, interpretation, improvisation and new technologies in one. The students, who are composers and performers at the same time, study every semester in another institution around Europe. ------- lightness&weight Viktória Šinkorová for small ensemble, electronics and lighting design “We can never know what to want, because, living only one life, we can neither compare it with our previous lives nor perfect it in our lives to come.” Milan Kundera Imagine walking through a dense forest. The sheer volume of trees, the multitude of leaves, the interplay of light and shadow - all these elements are overwhelming. To make sense of it, our minds simplify the myriad shades of gray into discrete forms. But what if you fall further down into the unknown space in-between? The boundaries dissolve, a sense of control transforms into a pleasant chaos, where new relationships, scenarios and possibilities are waiting to be discovered. lightness&weight is inspired by Milan Kundera’s novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being, which provided many of the themes that I am dealing with in this work – dualities, binaries, identities and liminalities. The piece you’re about to hear is an exploration of the binary concept, an interplay between relinquishing and taking control, mutual trust and musical synergies that arise when the boundaries between composer and performer diffuse.
