Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Beschichtung eines einzelnen Partikels und stellt eine Möglichkeit bereit, den Beschichtungsprozess unter kontrollierten Bedingungen vornehmen und untersuchen zu können. In einem Aspekt stellt die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Beschichtung eines einzelnen Partikels bereit, wobei: a) das einzelne Partikel (5) mittels akustischer Levitation berührungslos in der Schwebe gehalten wird, b) ein sich bewegender und das einzelne Partikel (5) umfließender Gasstrom gebildet wird, c) das in Schwebe gehaltene und vom Gasstrom umflossene einzelne Partikel (5) mit einem Beschichtungsmittel beschichtet wird, und d) der Beschichtungsprozess mittels eines messtechnischen Verfahrens überwacht wird.
