  • In this chapter, we compare the processes of financialization described in the different case studies of the book drawing on an approach to financialization that considers it as a socio-technical process. We argue that two main types of problematizations of development issues lead to the implementation of a multitude of management tools, mechanisms and financial arrangements that produce contradictory outcomes in terms of human development. The financializations of development described in this book are deformations of the financial circuits that largely benefit private financial actors without giving very convincing results in terms of development. In conclusion, we point out the possibility of other types of financing circuits and other conceptions of development that could allow us to envisage less financialized futures.
