Die Erfindung betrifft eine Nukleinsäure, die für eine pflanzliche Adenosin-Nukleosidase kodiert, diese Nukleinsäure enthaltende rekominante DNA, chimäre DNA, DNA-Konstrukte, Expressionsvektoren, transgene Wirtszellen und Pflanzen sowie eine Adenosin-Nukleosidase und Verwendungen der Nukleinsäure und der Adenosin-Nukleosidase. Darüber hinaus betrifft die Erfindung auch Verfahren zur Herstellung von Pflanzen mit verändertem Stoffwechsel sowie von transgenen Pflanzen. Die vorliegende Erfindung stellt beispielsweise eine isolierte oder synthetisierte Nukleinsäure, die für eine pflanzliche Adenosin-Nukleosidase kodiert, sowie eine pflanzliche Adenosin-Nukleosidase bereit.
