  • Project: CORDEX.be: COordinated Regional Climate Downscaling EXperiment and beyond - CORDEX.be provides a framework that aims to gather existing and ongoing Belgian research activities in the domain of climate modeling to create a coherent scientific basis for future climate services in Belgium. CORDEX.be is based on the international CORDEX (“COordinated Regional Climate Downscaling EXperiment”) project but the “.be” indicates it will go beyond for Belgium. The CORDEX.be project is a partnership of different research institutes and universities. In order to downscale the outcomes of the 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5) to the specific requests for climate services at the Belgian scale, the following four targets are set: Target 1: Contribution to the CORDEX project Target 2: Beyond CORDEX: High-Resolution Limited Area Model runs Target 3: Beyond CORDEX: Local-Impact Models Target 4: Inferring the climate uncertainties to the Belgian level For more information, visit http://www.euro-cordex.be or e-mail cordex@meteo.be Summary: Regional climate simulations with the MAR V 3.9 model by University of Liège. Dynamical downscaling on the CORDEX EUR-11 domain and HRes domain over Belgium at convection-permitting scale. Model name: MAR V. 3.9 Important reference: Wyard et al. 2017: https://dx.doi.org/10.1002/joc.4879 Resolution: RCM: 50 km and 12.5 km; LAM: 5 km Nr. vertical levels: 30 Time step (s): Important scheme: Snow variables Focal time series / severity index: Snowfall events and snowmelt events inducing floods Host GCM: ERA-Interim / various Non-hydrostatic: no
