Beschreibung:
  • 39 Grams of Qurʾān – In the past, the holy book of Islam was copied by hand not only in regular book size but also in the form of monumental manuscripts and, as shown in this film, really tiny ones. Cornelius Berthold explains the function of miniature Qurans and scrutinises an astonishingly precise 14th-century description of these small manuscripts. We are grateful to the following institutions: Berlin State Library/Prussian Cultural Heritage Hamburg, Carl von Ossietzky State and University Library and the following individuals: Karin Becker, Johannes Berthold, Wiebke Beyer, Janis Vernier and Jan Just Witkam
