Beschreibung:
  • What has been achieved ? successes and failures of global climate protection - In the Paris Agreement the international community set itself ambitious climate targets. However, the voluntary commitments to reduce emissions made by the member states are not sufficient to achieve these targets. Nevertheless, the fact that more than 90% of global emissions are now covered by net-zero targets and many countries have concrete plans to phase out fossil fuels can be regarded as encouraging. The number and stringency of national climate measures, including carbon pricing, has also increased further in recent years.  The extent to which climate policy ambition can be further raised depends to a large extent on geopolitical factors. International cooperation can make an important contribution to shaping technological and political developments in such a way that international climate targets can still be achieved.
