Auch heute Abend geht es in unserer Klima-Ringvorlesung um ein besonders wichtiges und oft vernachlässigtes Thema. Gemeinsam mit decolonize uhh freuen wir uns, Mohammed Usrof vom Palestinian Institute for Climate Strategy als letzten Gast des Decolonize-Monats begrüßen zu dürfen. In seinem Vortrag “From Energy Apartheid to Environmental Warfare: Decolonizing Climate Justice in Palestine” wird Mohammed erklären, wie eng Klimagerechtigkeit mit politischen Strukturen und historischen Machtverhältnissen verwoben ist. Dabei zeigt er, wie Umweltzerstörung, Energie(un)gerechtigkeit und Konflikte in Palästina miteinander zusammenhängen und warum Klimaschutz immer auch eine Frage von Dekolonisierung ist. ENG: This evening, our climate lecture series will focus once again on a particularly important and often overlooked topic. Together with decolonize uhh, we are excited to welcome Mohammed Usrof from the Palestinian Institute for Climate Strategy as the final guest of Decolonize Month. In his talk "From Energy Apartheid to Environmental Warfare: Decolonizing Climate Justice in Palestine," Mohammed will explain how closely climate justice is intertwined with political structures and historical power relations. He will show how environmental destruction, energy (in)justice, and conflict are connected in Palestine and why climate action is always tied to questions of decolonization.
