Cadmium, a heavy metal, is known to be a carcinogenic substance, though the exact mechanisms by which tumorous growth can be induced remain unknown. As cadmium has been shown to influence the repair of a number of DNA repair pathways, this work investigates the influence of cadmium on the repair of DNA double-strand breaks as they occur in the course of radiation or fhemotherapy.
