Stress- and health-related interventions have become common practice in many areas of work in the last years. Concepts, analysis methods, and methods of intervention have been developed. Reports of experience and evaluation studies have been published, especially studies of stress management interventions. This article describes the results of meta-analyses of stress management interventions at work. The results indicate that stress management training is in general effective; effects on specific variables and time-specific effects have been found. This article also reviews working-condition-related stress management intervention studies. Few studies of high quality can be found and results concerning effectiveness are inconclusive. The studies indicate that specific groups of participants derive most advantage from these working-condition related interventions: those groups that are directly involved in the interventions or those groups that perceived the interventions as being health-related.
